TRENDS IN THE FORMATION OF YOUTH SLANG IN THE MODERN GERMAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article examines the problem of slang vocabulary formation within the modern German language in youth communities of Germany. The author analyzes the slang vocabulary of modern German youth based on the dictionary of youth slang “Jugendsprache 2024” (Munich, Germany) with the classification of the studied lexical units according to their belonging to a particular language category. Examples of the formation of slang metaphors, metonymies, metaphtonymies, lexemes with semantic expansion, abbreviations are analyzed, the contexts of using foreign borrowings are studied, and the methods of forming slang neologisms and artificial words in the German youth environment are considered. The conclusion presents a conclusion on the study and outlines prospects for further research on the topic of this article.
