STUDY OF THE STRENGTH OF NERVOUS PROCESSES IN GIRLS WITH VISUAL PATHOLOGY

Abstract

Visual impairment in childhood has a negative and possibly irreversible impact on the psychological, educational and social performance of children, which can persist into adulthood and affect the quality of life. Visual impairment leads to peculiarities in the physical development of this category of children. Children with visual impairment lag behind in terms of joint mobility, muscle performance, and precision of movements. The greatest lag is manifested in the development of muscle strength endurance, coordination and speed of movements. To diagnose the strength of nervous processes by measuring the dynamics of the rate of hand movements, the "Tapping test" method was used as modified by E.P. Ilyin.

The study involved 79 blind and visually impaired girls, including 5 totally blind and 74 visually impaired, aged from 7 to 17 years. All children were divided according to age into three groups: junior, middle and senior school age

Based on the analysis of the indicators of the strength of the nervous system in girls with visual pathology, it can be concluded that the strength of the nervous processes, reflecting the general performance of girls with visual pathology, is weak. Therefore, with mental or physical stress, they experience muscle fatigue faster, and they are not able to withstand intense and prolonged stress.
