PROSECUTOR'S SUPERVISION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF INVESTIGATIVE BODIES INVESTIGATING CRIMINAL CASES
Abstract
The article examines the essence and significance of prosecutor's supervision of the procedural activities of investigative bodies at the pre-trial stages of criminal proceedings. The legal framework regulating the prosecutor's supervisory powers is analyzed, as well as the problematic aspects of law enforcement practice. Special attention is paid to the issues of defining the subject of supervision, the effectiveness of prosecutor's responses, and the specifics of supervision of the production of inquests in a reduced form. The article argues for the need to improve legislation by clarifying the limits of the prosecutor's intervention in investigations and enhancing the quality of supervisory functions. It emphasizes the strategic importance of prosecutorial supervision as a key guarantee for the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms during preliminary investigations.
