CONSTITUTIONAL ELECTORAL CENSUSES IN THE FEDERATIVE REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL

Abstract

The diversity of electoral systems in the world encourages researchers to find positive and negative aspects in their functioning. This article analyzes the provisions of the Constitution of 1988 in the part of census policy of the electoral system of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The result of the study was the identification of peculiarities in the establishment of electoral censuses for candidates to public authorities, as well as the dual nature of a number of censuses. It is concluded that the conditions of electability and restrictions enshrined in the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil give stability to the electoral system of the State and contribute to preventing the emergence of hostile elements in the public authorities.
