Idiomatic expressions denoting processes in French and English: semantics and structure
Abstract
The relevance of this study stems from the need for a comprehensive examination of procedural phraseological units from a comparative perspective. Against a backdrop of active intercultural interaction and the growing role of translation, it is particularly important to understand how different languages encode procedural meanings and what cultural attitudes underpin these linguistic choices. Procedural phraseological units often present difficulties in interpretation and translation, as their meaning is not self-evident and requires consideration of the figurative framework and cultural context.
