RISK FACTORS AND INCIDENCE OF ORAL CANCER IN RUSSIA
Abstract
To study the risk factors and incidence of oral cancer, a literature review and statistical data analysis were conducted. The incidence of oral cancer is steadily increasing and will continue to do so in all regions of the world due to population growth and aging. Risk factors include alcohol consumption, chewing tobacco, and areca nut consumption (including betel quid with or without tobacco), smoking, HPV infection, a diet high in pro-inflammatory factors, and poor oral hygiene.
The largest number of patients with oral cancer were actively detected in stages III and IV, accounting for 62.0%. A steady decline in mortality from this disease has been observed over a ten-year period.
The need to increase public awareness and ensure timely diagnosis for effective treatment is paramount.
