Abstract

This article presents a theoretical analysis of the influence of the structural components of parents' self-relationship on the development of their interaction style with children. Based on V.V. Stolin and S.R. Panteleev's concept of self-relationship, it examines how various aspects of self-relationship, such as self-esteem, self-sympathy, self-acceptance, and self-interest, determine the choice of parenting strategy. It is shown that a balanced self-relationship structure, where high self-esteem is consistent with self-acceptance, is the foundation of an authoritative style. Conversely, an imbalance in self-relationship components leads to the development of dysfunctional styles: authoritarian, symbiotic, and permissive. Particular attention is given to the methodological implications of the structural approach for the diagnosis and intervention of parent-child relationships. A conclusion is drawn regarding the need for a specific assessment of the structure of self-perception and the development of differentiated correction programs in the practice of family psychological counseling.
