TOLERANCE TO UNCERTAINTY AS A RESEARCH SUBJECT IN PSYCHOLOGY
Abstract
This article provides a concise review of Tolerance of Ambiguity (TA) and Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) as evolving constructs in modern psychology. Focusing on recent literature, the study examines the historical trajectory of these concepts through the lens of contemporary research, distinguishing between their roles in personality theory, clinical pathology, and creative cognition. The review highlights the shift from viewing these traits solely as static personality variables to understanding them as dynamic mechanisms influencing mental health, decision-making during global crises, and innovative performance.
