INDICATORS OF THE STATE OF ONCOLOGICAL CARE FOR CHILDREN IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Abstract
Cancer is less common in children than in adults, but incidence rates tend to increase over time. An analysis of the state of pediatric oncology care in the Russian Federation revealed that the number of children diagnosed with cancer for the first time is increasing. A high proportion (58.8%) of tumors are of unknown stage, due to the fact that approximately half of malignant tumors in children are hemoblastoses. Mortality has decreased, and drug therapy is becoming the predominant treatment option.
