ANALYSIS OF CERVICAL CANCER INCIDENCE IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a highly malignant tumor and the fourth most frequently diagnosed malignant neoplasm in women worldwide. Thus, in 2022, 660000 new cases of the disease and 350000 deaths from cervical cancer were registered worldwide. More than 95% of cervical cancer cases are caused by chronic infection with the human papillomavirus.

Analysis of the incidence of cervical cancer showed that there is an increase in prevalence. The growth of this indicator is due to both an increase in incidence and detection. The indicator of active detection of cervical cancer showed that the prevalence of the tumor process at the time of detection was in stages I and II of the tumor process in 65.8% of cases. During 2013-2023, a slight decrease in mortality was noted.

Cervical cancer is preventable and effectively treatable, especially if detected early. This means that morbidity and mortality from this pathology can be significantly reduced through timely screening and appropriate treatment.
