THE ROLE OF WITNESSES IN MODERN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS

Abstract

This study is devoted to the analysis of the role of witnesses in criminal proceedings in the Russian Federation. The main focus is on the procedural status of a witness, their rights, obligations, and the significance of witness testimony in ensuring fair justice. The article examines current issues related to the participation of witnesses in criminal proceedings and proposes solutions. In conclusion, the importance of legislative regulation of the witness’s status for achieving the goals of criminal proceedings is emphasized.
