USE OF VIDEOCONFERENCING SYSTEMS DURING INTERROGATION, CONFRONTATION AND IDENTIFICATION: PROBLEMATIC ASPECTS

Abstract

The use of videoconferencing systems in criminal proceedings has its own peculiarities, including both positive and negative aspects. This article considers the problems of interrogation, confrontation and identification through the use of videoconferencing technology. The definitions proposed by legal scholars for the concept of «videoconferencing» are analysed, as well as the necessary features for this definition are highlighted. Some problems related to the application of the technology under consideration are revealed. Cause-effect relations and correlations between the phenomena of procedural character are established. On the basis of the theses, the conclusion is made about the need for further elaboration of the problems of the category under consideration.
